Bank Mass Retrenchment : Ingige Summoned
Following the recent mass sacking in the banking sector and other financial institutions, the National Assembly has summoned the Minister of labor and Employment Dr. Chris Ngige. Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions brought the petition to summon him alongside the CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele; heads of other financial institutions were also called upon to give reasons for the mass sacking embarked upon by most financial institutions.
The federal government threatened to revoke the licences of some financial institutions if they failed to recall those that had been sacked.
There seem to be no headway to the downward turn of the Nigerian economy; this sacking only worsens the plight of the Nigerian masses. The federal Government have however assured Nigerians that they understand the economic situation in the country, and that they are working to better the lives of Nigerians.
